The presentation covers a personal journey in a family business that was missing all the elements of a successful well planned business strategy until tragedy struck. The family found itself in financial distress because it failed to plan for the loss of a partner. It lacked any vision, strategy or depth of talent to successfully navigate the future. After struggling for 3 years just to stay afloat myself and my younger sibling were forced to ask some difficult questions. Why aren’t we succeeding? What can we do differently? Are we capable of leading change? The answer wasn’t nearly as complicated as we made it out to be. When we began to adopt a philosophy of profit first with an ultimate goal in mind our management decisions became so much easier. If it wasn’t part of our strategy we chose not to get side tracked and chase business. The goal was to lead our business to our business valuation goal, in a specific period of time and to develop a leadership team that could succeed us.

Meet Lewis Rudy:

Lewis Rudy is Founder and President of Rudy and Associates and works with business owners and their teams to build strong, intentional business growth.  He identifies, isolates and eliminates the root causes of margin compression and under performance.  He has worked with dozens of regional, national, and international companies to redefine and add real value to the organization.  Typically, year-over-year results turn into triple digit profit improvement.  Lewis’ workshops are challenging and always bring about actionable change.  He actively facilitates a number of CEO and Senior Leadership round tables, he teaches Business Acumen courses for the Delphi center at U of L as well as educational programs such as REDI. His first book “On your own terms” Building a sustainable and value creating business was released in the fall of 2017.
