Update on the Minnesota Trust Code

Update on the Minnesota Trust Code

Minnesota’s version of the Uniform Trust Code is a once-in-a-generation update of Minnesota’s trust law. The presentation will provide an overview of the most significant changes contained in the Minnesota Trust Code, with a particular focus on three provisions that may be especially relevant to advisors who work with business owners:  directed trusts, decanting, and so-called ‘silent trusts.’

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain basic familiarity with the new provisions of Minnesota’s trust law that are especially relevant to business owners
  • Learn details about using directed trusts, decanting, and “silent trusts”
  • Learn how directed trusts could be advantageous for business owners as succession planning tools.
  • Learn how to introduce the topics to business owners as part of the broader succession planning conversation

Meet the Presenters:

Hear from experts of Minnesota’s trust law Jason Schuller, Sean Hauenstein, and Michael P. Sampson.
