EPI Greater Los Angeles: Chapter President’s Corner

Contributed by award-winning exit planner, Melisa Silverman

Welcome to the Greater Los Angeles EPI Chapter Newsletter! Every other month, we will be sending out a newsletter with upcoming chapter programs and upcoming events and mixers to make sure you’re informed on what’s going on so you can get involved. We will also try to include informative information on exit and succession planning to keep you up to date on trends in the industry. If anyone has any information they would like to share with our community please submit it to me and I will review it and include it in the newsletter if appropriate. I am also excited to announce that EPI Global will be piloting a social media program to provide more awareness on the chapters and Los Angeles will be a part of the pilot program.

If you know of anyone who should be attending these meetings, please forward this newsletter and the meeting emails that are sent out to other advisors and personally invite them to attend the meetings. That is how we are going to continue to grow our community.

Did you know…?

Did you know that the average age of Baby Boomers who own businesses is 64 years old? In ten years the last of the Baby Boomers will be 64 and average age will be 74. Do you think that these business owners need to start planning for the transition of their business? Right now we have very good market conditions. 2-3 years from now we could have very different economic conditions. Do you think that this should be part of the conversations we’re having now with clients? If you’re not having this conversation with your clients, why not?

We want to share insights that you can use. In this newsletter, we’ll provide you with some tips that you should think about and discuss with your clients. These tips could be included in an email or newsletter to clients. Ask them to call you to discuss. Whatever you do start the conversation now with your clients and prospects on the planning for the transition of their business. It is sound business strategy.
