The Intersection of Exit/Succession and Special Needs Planning for the Newly Disabled Business Owner of Special Needs Family Member

The Intersection of Exit/Succession and Special Needs Planning for the Newly Disabled Business Owner of Special Needs Family Member

Most business owners treat their business like one of their children or loved ones. But what if that business owner is the primary care giver, or is the financer of the care for, a family member with special needs? Or what happens if the owner is injured or receives a critical diagnosis that will take them out of the game for an extensive amount of time or longer? How do these sensitive subjects affect the owner’s mindset and planning that needs to take place before the development of a succession or exit plan? It’s safe to say the financial and emotional needs may be a far greater driver than getting the most value out of the business. Join Steve to understand the rules surrounding special needs planning and how adding it to the overall financial and/or exit planning can be a huge relief.
