HOW ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS CAN HELP AN OWNER AFTER THE SALE OF A BUSINESS
Many business owners don’t “trust the stock market,” yet they need to invest the proceeds from their business sale to ensure their financial security, family legacy and to accomplish their life goals. While stocks and bonds should have a place in a properly diversified portfolio, they aren’t the only asset classes an owner should consider as part of a truly well-balanced portfolio. Other options like commodities, real estate, asset backed loans, private equity, etc., offer unique risk/reward characteristics that owners should be aware of.
Learning Objectives:
- What are alternative investments?
- Learn the role niche alternative investments can play to enhance income/reduce risk in an owner’s investment portfolio,
- How illiquid investments can work to an owner’s advantage if structured properly.
- How tax harvesting strategies can be implemented years in advance of sale to accumulate capital losses.
- 1031 Alternative Investment Options
