Valuation is a process used to estimate the economic value of a business. It is used by buyers and sellers to determine the price they are willing to pay or receive to affect a sale of a business.

While necessary, most valuation reports have limited usefulness for exit planning purposes. Too often, valuation providers simply deliver a number and do not provide any useful insights to the business owner about how to increase value. Additionally, valuations are expensive and time consuming.

To plan effectively for exit, business owners need to know the “GAP” between their business’ current value and potential value, how their performance compares to others, and what actions they can take today drive better performance, decision making and valuation in their business.
