CATHERINE METZGER-SILVER
I learned the value of a dollar at an early age. When I was six, every day after school, I walked down to my parents' restaurant and peeled carrots for an hour. I was paid $1.00 an hour, which in the early seventies was pretty good! I understand the work it takes to earn every dollar, and the respect with which it should be treated. Growing up in small business lit the fire in me to help others and understand the hard work it takes to be successful - in personal and business finances.
Currently celebrating my 13th year, I began my career with Edward Jones by opening the first Edward Jones office in the Annapolis Valley in 2012 after having worked with RBC for the previous seven years. I have built my practice one client at time through the delivery of a high level of service, quality advice and responsible investment strategies.
Serving the Annapolis Valley community is important to me; I have served on many boards and committees including, Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and Valley Women's Business Network and have been recognized by the Nova Scotia Legislature for my volunteer activities. I am the creator and past Chair of the AVCC Women of Excellence Awards, a program that seeks to inspire and engage all community members by recognizing the achievements of women in the community in the areas of mentorship, leadership and engagement.
I have lived in the Annapolis Valley for two decades. I have been married for 25 years to my husband Jeff, a corporate tax lawyer, and we have one daughter, Olivia, who is not just the apple of our eye, but the whole orchard! We enjoy travelling and learning about world cultures. Having grown up in the restaurant business, I'm a serious foodie and enjoy cooking. My signature dish? Bouillabaisse!
I take pride in making a meaningful difference in my clients' lives by helping them achieve their most important financial goals. Whether the focus is retirement, funding education, leaving a financial legacy for their family or protecting themselves when things go sideways, my job is to help families feel comfortable and secure in their financial lives.
