Ray Mejia, CEPA®, CMA
Founder & Managing Partner | Strategic CFO | Value Creation & Exit Planning Advisor
Ray Mejia is the Founder and Managing Partner of FCF Consulting Partners, where he serves as a Strategic CFO, Value Creation Advisor, and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) to founder-led and lower middle-market businesses. He helps business owners increase enterprise value, improve financial performance, prepare for ownership transitions, and position their companies for future liquidity events, strategic acquisitions, recapitalizations, or sale.
Throughout his career, Ray has advised clients through acquisitions, business sales, real estate investments, growth financing transactions, operational turnarounds, financial restructurings, and large-scale business transformations. His experience spans every stage of the business lifecycle—from capital formation and growth to succession planning and eventual liquidity events.
For more than a decade, Ray has served as a trusted CFO advisor to entrepreneurial companies across healthcare, medical aesthetics, insurance distribution, professional services, technology, government contracting, transportation, hospitality, and construction. His work focuses on helping business owners build stronger, more profitable, and more transferable businesses through disciplined financial leadership, operational improvement, strategic planning, and value acceleration.
What distinguishes Ray is the breadth of perspective he brings to business owners and transaction teams. Prior to founding FCF Consulting Partners, he was a co-founder, equity partner, and Managing Director of a specialty commercial finance company backed by private equity investors, where he held a 50% ownership interest. In that role, he evaluated, structured, and funded growth initiatives for entrepreneurial and lower middle-market businesses, providing firsthand insight into the factors that drive enterprise value, lender confidence, transaction readiness, and investor appeal.
Earlier in his career, Ray worked as both a business banker and loan officer, helping companies secure capital for growth and expansion. He also served as a wealth management advisor, assisting successful business owners in aligning their business decisions with long-term personal financial goals. This unique combination of owner, operator, lender, investor, advisor, and CFO experience allows him to view business value through the same lens as business owners, investors, lenders, and acquirers.
Leveraging the Exit Planning Institute's Value Acceleration Methodology™, Ray helps owners align three critical dimensions of planning: business value, personal goals, and financial readiness. His engagements often focus on improving the key drivers of enterprise value, including financial performance, cash flow, leadership development, operational scalability, risk mitigation, and strategic growth initiatives.
Ray has developed particular expertise advising insurance agencies, wholesale brokers, MGAs, MGUs, program administrators, and specialty insurance distribution platforms—an industry experiencing significant consolidation, merger activity, and private equity investment. He also advises founder-led businesses across a broad range of industries that are preparing for growth, transition, recapitalization, acquisition, or sale.
In addition to working directly with business owners, Ray frequently collaborates with investment bankers, M&A attorneys, quality-of-earnings providers, wealth advisors, family offices, lenders, and private equity professionals to help companies prepare for capital events and ownership transitions.
Ray believes that successful exits are not created during a transaction process; they are built years in advance through intentional value creation, strategic leadership, and financial discipline. His mission is to help business owners create businesses that are more valuable, more transferable, and ultimately more capable of delivering financial freedom and lasting legacy.
