EPI Advisors Raise $52,100 for WISH for OUR HEROES at 2019 Summit Giveback

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Sept. 26, 2019Attendees of the 2019 annual Summit Giveback raised $52,100 in two hours for WISH for OUR HEROES (W4OH) through a combination of general donations, silent auction, and live auction. To date, Exit Planning Institute has raised $117,000 for four different charitable organizations in four different cities.

Each year, the EPI team collaborates with local leaders to execute the Summit Giveback, a charity auction and reception. The event brings together high-powered advisors from all over the world for a night of powerful networking and fundraising.

We can make a positive impact every year in each community that we visit for as long as the Exit Planning Summit exists. Brooke Norman, EPI Vice President

The 2019 Summit Giveback, sponsored by SWBC Investment Services, supported WISH for OUR HEROES, a national charity that assists military families of all branches struggling with basic needs.

The evening started with a silent auction including items such as a trip to wine country, a Spurs VIP experience, and a Summit Signature set which consisted of registration to the 2020 Summit, a suite at the hotel, and more. After the winners of the silent auction items were announced, the live auction began led by auctioneer Army Staff Sergeant Mike Lage. SSG Lage was injured during his third tour while on a night raid with the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment in Baghdad, when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED). He was the only survivor and endured over 100 surgeries. The mission of W4OH is to help not only people like SSG Lage, but also military members who need help meeting their basic needs.

The live auction featured three items including an autographed Michael Jordan Air 1, a guitar signed by 20 country music stars and a trip to Normandy for the 77 anniversary of D-Day. After a lively and close auction of the trip to Normandy, the W4OH volunteers surprised attendees with two additional trips to Normandy. The surprise change raised $15,000 alone.

It’s all about overcoming adversity. Our military members are out fighting for us each and every day and they also face adversity when they come back home. So, our purpose or mission as a charity, the reason we are here tonight is to assist those families.” Jeff Wells, President and Founder of WISH for OUR HEROES

Coming up on their 10-year anniversary, Wells said that W4OH started as “just a bunch of military guys” taking donations in boots at stoplight. Today, W4OH has helped over 35,000 military families to the tune of $15 million.

The money raised at the Summit Giveback will assist two families, who have been struck by tragedy and fallen on hard times. If you missed out on the chance to help W4OH and the men and women who selflessly serve our nation, you can still donate here.

Thank you to the Giveback Partner.

Thank you to our Giveback Sponsor and the EPI South Texas Chapter, all of whom make this powerful giving event possible.  Your philanthropic nature and influential leadership make this community stronger.

About the Exit Planning Institute:

The Exit Planning Institute (EPI) is an education company that provides exit planning education to advisors and middle market business owners.  We view exit planning as a strategy, not an event.

EPI leads the professional services profession with the best industry content, ongoing support, and owner education platform, all of which align with our mission: Change the outcome.

Only 2 out of every 10 businesses that come to market actually sell.  We want to increase the number of saleable businesses.

Only 30% of family businesses successfully transition to the second generation, only 12% transfer to the third, and the success rates diminish from there.  We want to improve those intergenerational transitions.

Of those that succeed in the sale of their business, 75% experience “profound regret” within one year of exiting their business.  We want to understand why and create strategies that achieve profound success, wealth, and satisfaction.

EPI is an education company, powered by an elite community of top advisors and owners, all focused on creating a valuable, transferable future for the business marketplace.
