ERIC OPHEIM
Eric Opheim is a Financial Advisor with Prudential in Honolulu. Eric builds enduring relationships with individuals, families, and businesses, helping them derive greater meaning and security from their wealth. He believes there is no one who cares more for his clients, walking with them through significant points in their lives, careers, family priorities, retirement aspirations, and charitable intentions. Eric is particularly skilled in helping clients navigate important transitions in their lives, providing them with the advice, insight, and perspective to address the crossroads they encounter.
Clients from diverse paths seek Eric’s assistance. Some are actively building their wealth and appreciate the one-on-one guidance that can help them do more—and be more—in their financial lives. Others turn to Eric to help discern if they are on track for their goals, for themselves and their loved ones, refining their path, as needed. Still others value the professional oversight and technical knowledge that Eric can provide, allowing them to advance measurable progress toward their objectives while regaining precious free time for other pursuits.
Whatever a client’s path, Eric looks to serve as a reliable resource and a trusted confidante. Even-tempered in his advice, he helps clients avoid the perils of emotional decision-making, supporting the habits and mindsets that can help clients take a more thoughtful approach to their finances. Eric also appreciates clients as people—not simply as business associates. He helps people ask—and answer—important questions about their lives and legacies, anticipating what lies ahead and helping them plan for unforeseen events.
Prior to joining Merrill, Eric spent more than eight years as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. Earlier in his career, he served for twelve years with the U.S. Army, where he was an Intelligence Analyst and Liaison. He holds two degrees: one in Intelligence Operations from Cochise College and another in Korean from the Defense Language Institute.
Committed to professional excellence, Eric also holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ designation. A lifelong learner and an avid reader, he looks to connect clients with the ideas and insights that can enhance the quality of their lives.
Eric has held a number of leadership roles within his community. He is the former commander of American Legion Post 56 and served as Chaplain to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Eric and his wife Janell have three daughters and two sons. Their children are involved in dance, gymnastics, soccer, jiujitsu, and cross country, making for very busy weekends. In his free hours, Eric loves to enjoy music and art. He also competes in powerlifting and is eyeing a possible strongman competition.
I follow the deep-seated Prudential tradition of participating in the communities we serve. This drives my interest in spending time volunteering with organizations in our community.
