
KATHI FLECK

Kathi has an extensive business background, with an emphasis in sales, management and production. Early in her career, Kathi sold intangibles to small companies and banks, growing to a top sales representative for a national corporation. Later, Kathi was a top US producer for a Fortune 500 multinational corporation, specializing in human capital solutions and workforce development. She grew her Dallas market to managing ten profit centers across several states. Kathi earned an MBA in Marketing and Management and taught at the college level for SUNY in upstate New York.
Kathi has an entrepreneurial spirit and felt the urge to use her business skills in developing and growing a residential remodeling company. She started her business in 2007, grew into Design-Build, built a referral network and client base and developed a team of employees and trades. She became certified in remodeling sectors, developed and taught classes through NARI and wrote a book on home improvement to educate homeowners on the renovation process. Certified in both Universal Design and Kitchen & Bath Remodeling, she wrote a book on home improvement.
In 2017, the business was valued through an M&A organization. This provided a baseline for next steps. Kathi worked with business coaches in implementing a succession plan, which included standardizing operations. Over the next three years, emphasis on processes, operations and streamlining the client experience increased the value of the company, leading to higher revenue and profits. At the end of the 3-year plan, Kathi put the company on the market. She and her broker chose the buyer with the strongest business background and Kathi stayed on for 6 months to ensure a smooth transition.
Kathi’s passion for business owners to grow and plan their exit on their terms brings her to her latest venture.
She now serves on a Board of Advisers and as a consultant for a business coaching company, preparing business owners to grow and exit their businesses. Kathi also assists the M&A company who sold her business, as a both a Business Analyst and Broker, taking business owners through the sales process. She is certified in exit planning as CEPA (Certified Exit Planning Advisor) under Exit Planning Institute. With her lifetime of business acumen in sales and production, growing her business, and firsthand succession experience, Kathi provides business owners with the direction needed to take their business to the next level.
In her spare time, Kathi uses her creative skills in knitting, embroidery, and gardening. She enjoys her young poodles, who occupy many hours of walking, cuddling and playing. Spending time with her large family keeps her busy on a daily basis, but her love for adventure is expressed through travel to new locations.
